Success Stories

Jubeida Bibi ( Srilanka )

" I never thought life was so difficult as immediately after the death of my parents during the devastating Tsunami, I even never dreamt to become a doctor because firstly due to the severe mental deterioration and the condition I was living in with the carers. I did put in my 100% towards my studies just to dream of having a handful of income for a better future which I longed for.

After I passed my pre-medical exams with a colourful score, I was eligible to sit for the medical entrance examinations which was the gateway for me to become a doctor which I never dreamt of. To sit in for the exams I was in need of books, other study material and some financial support to travel and to pay the fee of exams and this was the most painful moment of my life as I felt myself in a quagmire without any hope to get to my target as I had no means of supporting the immediate and the dire needs.

The Sun did rise from the West that day when I heard about the Mother Jamilah Scholarship programme. I still can't believe that the supportive response from Mother Helpage UK was so fast that they encouraged me to get prepared for this exam and they fulfilled all my needs to step up the ladder of success where I am finding myself today.

Alhamdulillah, today I am a qualified medic and am supporting all the medical projects of Mother Helpage worldwide in Srilanka"......... Jubeida Maryam Bibi.

Sea Rescue academy ( Indonesia )

"Every time when there is high tide we again shiver as we anticipate the Tsunami every time the tide hits the coast", Mirwan, a local resident of  Banda Ache. These words reflect the post trauma stress disorder the residents of Banda Ache are suffering from. Mother Helpage Worldwide with its qualified staff reviewed this situation and set up a sea rescue academy in Indonesia with the following features:

  1. Sea rescue training for the local residents, and the fisherman.
  2. Disaster preparedness courses for the schools and the community groups
  3. Counselling for the post trauma stress disorder
  4. Emergency  response on call for various disasters and the emergencies

This academy is very successful as it has provided a productive contribution to the residents of Banda Ache area.

Income generation ( Poultry farming project ) : Kashmir

More than two decades have passed for the ongoing turmoil in Kashmir of which there is no apparent hope of an early settelment. Mother Helpage Worldwide has been active in Kashmir since this organisation was formed and has carried out hundreds of projects since then. One of the stories which our news desk would like to share is as follows:

Muhammad Khan's wife ( Mst Saleema Bi ), aged 52 living by herself as she lost her three members of the family during the ongoing turmoil.Mst Saleema works as a cleaner in the neighbouring households to earn for her living as she has not other option to support herself. Her body doesn't allow her to do this hectic and tiresome job as she is suffering form arthritis as well.It was a challenge for this lady to cope up even with the normal life and she mentioned that she tried to end her life a several times.

Mother Helpage supported Mst Saleema by donating her a poultry farm as an Income generation gift to support herself. She is now happily living with the permanent family of thirty chicken from which she makes her living by selling eggs as well as the chicken. She is no more dependant on others for supporting herself for the future and inturn she does help other poor neighbours by sharing eggs and chicken for their food.
