Mother Helpage Worldwide recently concluded the emergency relief operation in Haiti, in which more than 25 volunteers comprising of pilots, doctors, engineering unit, paramedics etc took part. It was one of the major challenges for Mother Helpage as our organization was working shoulder to shoulder with the renowned international humanitarian agencies.
Our organization is thankful to the generous donors and our volunteers who made this operation a major success. The CEO of Mother Helpage also had a chance to co-ordinate the relief work with US army based in Haiti, who was extremely helpful in this time of despair and agony.
What Mother Helpage did in Haiti?
Mother Helpage conducted a number of relief operations which include:
- Provision of water and food to the camp sites
- Provision of toys and biscuits to 3000 orphans and children
- Support to the local hospital, injured patients and the vulnerable groups.
- Ambulance service for the injured.
- Establishment of a temporary communication centre.
- Clean-up procedures in which our volunteers helped to clear the dead bodies and are helping in clearing the rubble.
Line of Action
To engage the local youth in the clean up process of Port-Au-Prince, therefore helping the people of Haiti in economic establishment and in preventing any epidemic due to the dead carcasses. We are looking forward to introduce the cash for work plan through this programme.
Mother Helpage is keen to help Haiti in re-establishing its disease free, pollution free, and its fragile structure by tree plantation and by constructing the sanitation units.
We will continue our medical care for the patients who need any kind of rehabilitation aid eg Wheel chairs, artificial limbs etc
We also look forward to help the people in set up small income generation units for their sustainable income support
Our Appeal Mother Helpage looks forward to raise £100,000 sterling for this programme and we humbly request to help us and make us stronger to support the distressed Haitians. |
